Our Aviation Business Unit is searching for a Principal Aviation Planning Engineer to join the dynamic team based in London Croydon.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Lead aviation planning studies including airport master planning & feasibility studies, airfield and terminal layout planning, forecasting, demand/capacity analysis and airport design projects
  • Responsible for leading the design and planning of new and rehabilitated runways, taxiways, stands, terminals, and other airside infrastructure; working closely with other Principals, Associate Directors and the Head of Aviation
  • Lead, coordinate and review the works of the aviation team, other business units, external parties, admin supports, etc. assigned to projects
  • Resolve conflict planning/design issues through interactive planning sessions, etc
  • Ability to lead projects from inception to conception, review concepts plans, provide innovative design/planning solutions, prepare/review engineering reports/technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates
  • Support bid strategy, input to Business Plans, writing proposals, preparation of tender documentation, presentation to clients, lead project meetings, developing and applying lessons learned during project execution
  • Management of resources, project budgets, maintenance of professional standards and best practices including quality assurance
  • Assist in the development, training and mentoring of engineers and help in the promotion of workforce diversity
  • To manage and act as contract administrator the works to meet budget allocations, time, other commitments and to obtain Value for Money (VFM)
  • Active participation in business development and assist in identifying new opportunities in the UK and abroad
  • Establish long term business relationships with clients; both existing and new.
  • Actively involved in the networking of potential clients, advance client knowledge and relationships, participate in aviation forums such as BAG, AOA, etc. to help identify future prospects.





  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Planning or equivalent
  • Chartered or Equivalent
  • Minimum 12 years of aviation experience with proven engineering planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills plus literacy and numeracy skills
  • Sound knowledge of ICAO SARPs, EASA, UK CAA CAPs, FAA Advisory Circulars, IATA ADRM, Airport specific Airside Planning and Engineering Standards
  • Result oriented and proven track of successful delivery of planning assignments
  • Significant previous work experience in the aviation industry with a track record of winning aviation planning assignments
  • Ability to travel frequently


  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of CAST Terminal software 
  • Knowledge of Auto Track/Avi PLAN
